I've hoarded these icons long enough.

I fully intended to make my Fall stock icons in shades of purple, but they just didn't want to go that way. So they are the traditional Fall colors.

There are a bunch of True Blood Anne Taintor style quote icons! I have so much fun making these. I have ideas for a bunch more, but I'll get to those later. These are not intended to be artsy, obviously. They are intended to be fun!

I have to say I like the Evan Rachel Wood - Taintor icons the best. Her facial expressions are so great. :)

I decided to put my icontest icons separate and I made notes. Mainly for myself because I'm anal I like to keep track of things. I usually make more than the required icons for a challenge and then pick what I think are the best. Pfft. I'm terrible at picking my own icons. Anyway, there are a lot of alternates, i.e., icons I didn't enter, but were made for icontests.

You didn't need to know all this, just that they are all up for grabs if you like any of them. :)

It's been way too long since I made an icon post. Sorry I don't have any stock icons this time. I just haven't had a lot of free time to sit and make icons and my attentions have been focused in one particular area. *ahem* But I promise I will get back to stock icons.

I fell in love with these photographs of ASkars by Chris Maluszynski. I have no idea who he is, but I just love the way he photographed Alex. Today I had tons of time to sit at my computer and play around with these photos. ASkars eyes in the photos are soulful. OK, I'm getting all poetic, I need to stop. But they are. I'm really attracted to huge irises and he has them. It's a weakness of mine. Alright, moving on.

It's kind of embarrasing that almost this entire icon drop is ASkars icons. They are all up for grabs, so please take what you like.

Next time, stock icons and some True Blood Anne Taintor icons. Also, I'm working on some larger graphics and I'll post those next time as well. :)

I was making this icon and I thought I would make a tutorial for it because it's actually pretty simple.

Made in Photoshop:CS2. I'm pretty sure it's translatable to other programs, but there will be detailed instructions for Photoshop: CS2 in this tut.

What you will learn:
How to crop an image
How to make an image black and white
How to blend using the "add vector mask"
How to use the "feather tool"
How to use the "polygonal lasso tool"
How to use light textures.

This tutorial is extremely detailed and explains how to use the tools as well as explaining why I'm using certain techniques. It seems like a lot of steps for one little icon, but once you know how to use the tools it takes no time at all to make.

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to do the techniques I used in my "Northman header".

This tutorial is intended for beginners, so that you may learn how to use more advanced tools and do more advanced techniques in Photoshop CS2. If you already know how to use the tools then you can skip the How to parts in the tutorial.

I don't think it will be translatable to other programs, but it is probably translatable to other versions of Photoshop. Some of the tools may be in different places on your program though, but as long as you have them you should be able to do this.

This tutorial is for my "Northman header" as I mentioned above. (I'm sorry, but my header IS NOT up for grabs, nor is any part of it. I know I can't really prevent people from taking it, but please don't. Please make your own. That's why I'm writing this tutorial, so that you can learn the tools and use YOUR OWN CREATIVITY to make YOUR OWN HEADER.

Please do not copy exactly what I have done. Feel free to use the same textures, but please experiment with other images. Well, the pic of Eric Northman is not mine, so if you have it then you can use it of course.

Techniques and tools explained:
Blending, Magic Wand Tool, Polygonal Lasso Tool, Feather tool, horizontal type mask tool, Add Layer Mask, Making brushes, adding text, Desaturating an image, Eyedropper Tool and many more.

This is really in-depth and long long long so please be sure you have some time to spare. All of the images and examples in the tutorial are linked. If they weren't this would just be crazy. Crazier than it already is. I encourage you to click on the links to see the examples, they will help you alot. Also, everything in this tutorial is optional. Basically I am just showing you how to do the different techniques and how to use the tools. It's up to you which of them you use in the graphic you make and how you use them.

Ok, take a deep breath and let's get started.

Save the header as a .psd file first and most importantly. Then you can flatten it and save it as a .jpg or .png. I prefer .png myself because it's better for text.

I am officially bored with the True Blood season 2 promo images. Not because the promos are boring. Far from it. It's just that as far as making icons from them, they are limiting. I am really looking forward to some season 2 episode screencaps.

I have bunches of flower icons. Some Alexander Skarsgard from The Last Drop. If you haven't seen that movie yet I highly recommend it. It's much better than I thought it would be. A little gem. And Alex is very cute in it.

Quite a few icons with the same crop just slightly different coloring and texture use on a few of them.

It's been over a month since I've posted icons. Bad me.

There is a big mish mash of stuff here. I haven't had a lot of time to make graphics and most of the stuff I've made has been kind of experimental in my mind. Plus I had this to get some quote icons out of my system. I love making them because they are so much fun. But they take me a long time because I make each one different.

So, there are Turn Coat animated quote icons. Some of those are probably spoilery if you haven't read the book. I was going to go through the whole book and icon all the good quotes, but I never did complete that task. So if there is a quote you like, but don't see here, just put it in a comment. I try to icon exact quotes, so please include the page number the quote is found on, along with the exact sentence it comes from word for word.

I found some totally random True Blood icons, including a few animated quote icons, in a file. I guess I started working on a batch a while ago and never finished them. So I thought I'd just go ahead and post them. There is also a Sookie banner.

Please give me some ideas for stock icons. What would you like to see? I have mostly flower stock icons this time. And a few icons I made for an icontest that I forgot about. They all looked the same, so I re-did a few of them.

Alright, I'm babbling. On to the icons and stuff. :)

Since my icon muse has deserted me I decided to finish up some texture packs I've been working on. I'm hoping this will spark my creativity, but so far I'm not feeling it. I think a tutorial might be my next thing. Or maybe some large size textures.

Despite my creativity block I do have an icon batch I've been working on. Lot's of quote icons, because like I said, the muse is on vacation. Will probably post that next week some time.

I've got 3 sets to share. I've taken to giving my texture packs names lately. This helps me keep track of them and plus it's just fun to name them. "Paranoid" is mostly soft colors. "Intrigue" is a random mixture of textures and "Kindle" is all sorts of light textures.

I haven't been making a lot of icons lately other than for icontests. I'm working on some Alexander Skarsgard banners and headers with matching icons. And some Spring icons. I think I need to take a break from icontests and make some of my own stuff.

I have a couple of wallpapers to share as well. I made these for a challenge at grafx_challenge. I tied for 2nd Place with "My Guitar Gently Weeps". The other wallpaper has lyrics on it as well from a new U2 song "No Line On The Horizon".

I have heart icons for Valentine's Day already. I love hearts, so I might post more before the 14th.

I did a lot of experimenting with the True Blood stuff. Trying to make Bill and Eric look very vampirey. Also, I haven't made quote icons in a while and I made a few of those.

Not all of the icontest icons were actually submitted. I often make more than the required icons and then just pick which ones I want to enter.

I entered icons 20, 21 and 23 for the Pansy challenge at botanicalstills and won 3rd place for icon #20. I also entered icons 29, 30 and 31 in the Zinnia challenge, but didn't place. I only have the three because I was late making them and in a hurry.

I entered icons 32, 33 and 34 in Challenge 69 at romance_stills and won 1st Place for #34 and 2nd Place for #32.

OK, I'm done pimping comms and boasting a little. ;)

Um, that's about all I have to say. I hope you like what I've done this time. I'll have some Alexander Skarsgard icons next time. I have a few, but I want to gather a few more before I post them. And maybe a banner or something.
