Awesome news, for once
In a monumental victory for the gay rights movement, the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot.

"In contrast to earlier times, our state now recognizes that an individual's capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation," Chief Justice Ronald George wrote for the majority in ringing language that delighted gay rights activists.

More squeefilled things from today
Taurus: The daytime TV soap opera The Young and the Restless has been the most highly-rated show in its time slot for more than a thousand consecutive weeks. First appearing in 1973, the show ascended to the top slot in 1988 and has never slipped since. I'm happy to announce that in 2008 you have the potential to begin a comparable run of success, Taurus. Whether you're able to cash in on that potential may depend on the preparations you make in the coming weeks.

Here we are with a return to an old friend. Thanks, Uncle Rob. I've been feeling pretty good regardless of up and down situations, but it's nice to randomly pick up my horoscope and see the future's looking so bright I might need sunglass, too.

Have also recently acquired a copy of Rob Brezxny's Pronoia is the Antidote to Paranoia: How The World Is Conspiring To Shower You With Blessings, as I stumbled upon it in a resale store I think two and half months ago. I haven't gotten to do much more than flip through it, but it is designed for wonderful.

Oof, stupid day. Stupid microfiche. Stupid people who don't know what they're doing and make stupid mistakes so I have to re-file a whole stupid drawer. My grr face, let me show you it.

But tomorrow's Friday, and that's not stupid at all!

Also, I actually managed to finish a short fic, and keep it short! Crazy. I'll posty later, after a quick beta.

Which recalls another point. Is there some trick to getting accepted at [info]weemo_closet? Because I've tried joining and emailing the mod and was rejected and ignored, in turn, which is kind of sad-making. :( Like that.

A QUICK QUESTION!! :O
Hey all!

I need to ask a stupid question. In PSP 9 how do I get all the layers copied into one? I can't remember the keycombination!! I used to remember it, but now I've used too much PS CS3 and I just remember Alt+crtl+shift+E  . And we all know that doesn't work on PSP 9!!

Please help me!! D:

*hugs*

SOLVED!!! THANK YOU! :D

Hello there!

I've been going through the memories and tuts like crazy and I can't find the reason for the problem I seem to be having. None of my brushes will stick. They're there when I'm working on an icon, but when I save it all the changes are there except the brush(es). This goes for the PS default ones, not just the downloaded ones (so I'm assuming file extraction isn't the problem).

Any ideas?

I'm using CS3, btw.

Thanks in advance!

Community Poll - Please answer
I have a poll for you all to answer. If Moonlight is not picked up by another network then I am changing this community to an Alex O'Loughlin Icontest Rumble community. Since the Rounds last 10 weeks it will be mid July before this round is over. I hope we'll have a definitive answer by then. I've heard some other networks might be interested in Moonlight, possibly The SciFi Channel. I think they are picking up Jericho. Whether that is for new episodes or just repeat episodes I don't know. I'll try to find out more on the ML front and let you all know. Anyway...

I realize I could make this decision on my own, but polls are fun.

Winners - Round 2, Challenge 1 - An Cat Dubh
Sorry this is late. I'm all wrapped up in mourning and I keep spacing out thinking about how I might not ever get to see the resolution to all the Moonlight storylines put in place. Plus I will miss those characters so much.

Also, I keep reading everywhere that there are several different networks interested in Moonlight, so this is giving me hope. I hope the hope is not in vain.

OK, let's get to the winners.

There was some neck and neck competition between a couple of the icons. So close...so very close! Ouch! :)

Everyone who participated in the challenge got 1 point added to their score.

Thanks so much to everyone who entered icons. I realize it's going to be really hard from here on out to gather your enthusiasm to make Moonlight icons, but I hope you all will try. There is some real talent here and I want to see what you all come up with. I think you will like Challenge 3 when we get to it. It will give everyone a chance to vent. >:)

Please reserve your congrats comments for the Winners Banners entry.

Congratulations to the winners!

Just a few questions =]
Heya!

I am like soooo obsessed with Eva Longoria atm and i'd love to make graphics out of some pictures of her, involving some sort of coloring. But the problem is, i can't find a coloring tutorial that works with Eva's hair color (dark brown) that will look good but doesn't darken the whole picture. So i was wondering if anyone had any tuts that they know of that they could give me directions to? I'd be so great full!
e.g i'd like to do some color changes to this image in particular:
Photobucket

Thanks in advance xx

Oh yeah and it would be nice to learn how to make these colorings, if anyone knows:

Run by posting, on my way out the door
I love checking the mail. The ability for there to be new mail is enough to make me get out of bed at anytime of the day. It's possibly one of my very most favorite times of the day, everyday. Brand new possibilities and surprises. Today there were no bills, but two small manila packages.

One was my CueCat scanner from LibraryThing.com. My library is there under the same username as here, and the Cuecat, which I have already tested out even with so little time to run, is amazing. Easy as pie, makes me giggle like a small child, amazing. The second was my traded imp from [info]gethenian which is luscious and amazing and delicious on my skin.

Fairdale
Last night we played a show at the infamous Bulldog Cafe. I don't particularly have anything against the venue (besides the fact that it's a fucking toilet) but I was definitely a bit apprehensive about heading there, after having a read a recent article in the Courier Journal stating the KKK has made its presence known in the area.

While I didn't witness anything out of the ordinary, our buddy Justin told us he went to the pizza place next to The Bulldog to have himself a brew, and all he heard from a group of locals was “nigger this” and “nigger that.” Apparently, they were discussing hanging a black baby doll from a lamppost.

And this came out of...left field?? Still...
For those of you still fighting (and I know you're out there!), I found this over at www.renewmoonlight.com:

Ok people, latest news I just found out:
From the person responsible for the Blooddrive campaign:

"Our publicist has touched base with the President of both
the SciFi channel and USA Network and they wanted
to discuss it further. SciFi is EXTREMELY interested!
What we need fans to do is to go over to either Kandygirl's
or Help Save Moonlight Mypace sites and get the list of
Moonlight's past and present advertisers from them.
[an incomplete list is also on this very site; top right "contact
advertisers"]
Call the toll free numbers and tell them that you have
purchased their products BECAUSE they were the ones
keeping our show paid for!
Tell them you are getting together a pledge list of fans who
will pledge to buy their products if they will contact the
SciFi channel and commit to paid advertising for the show
if it gets picked up!
Call or email the SciFi channel and tell them you want to
see them pick up Moonlight!"
I don't have the email-s of people there but we can use:
To email SciFi channel:
feedback@scifi.com
and for USA Network:
http://www.usanetwork.com/feedback/#Contact
You can find more networks e-mails, as well as addresses
and phone # including for Sci-fi and USA at:
http://moonlightarmy.com/main/viewtopic.php?t=35&postdays=0&

There is also the information about CW and WB. Whoever is making noise, I am perfectly happy to join in while waving my torch.

Secret Sunshine
"Secret Sunshine" is of the most unexpected and may be the most honest film I have watched. I was interested in it because I wanted to see Do-yeon Jeon in her Cannes Festival winning role as a Korean widow living and struggling through her loss, grief, more loss and more grief. She absolutely deserved her Best Actress prize in Cannes Festival 2007. But the film was so much more than that. It had several big themes and each theme was thought-provoking: the nature of grief, small-town life, Christian Protestantism, romance, "crime and punishment". I think it is a film that will give something different to different viewers and will be understood differently by different people.

I was personally the most affected by the themes I listed below. I will try to avoid spoilers as much as possible:

Honest representation of the present day Christian Protestant church. I have never expected to find this in a film from Asia. It shows it all: pluses, minuses, downs and ups. Without any bias, any prejudiced mocking or saccharine coating. This is a hot topic of conversation between my friend and I, how faith and religious organisations are two totally different things and how any religious organisation (not only Christian Protestant) is the same as any human organisation with the same people as everywhere else, and how faith is something that is uniquely yours.

Forgiveness I have read in quite few reviews that the main herouine, Shin-ae, couldn't forgive the man that did her a terrible wrong, that she could not accept God's forgiveness for this man, etc, etc.

My understanding of the situation is completely different. I often ponder about this: can people who commit terrible crimes be forgiven by God? I must accept "Yes" in general, but I want to look at individual cases.
For example, in "Secret Sunshine", Shin-ae (with her newly found faith) goes to a prison to meet the person who committed the terrible crime against her. She wants to forgive him. And what does he say to her? He says that he himself found God, that he is forgiven by God and happy. In this situation I see a terribly selfish man, still thinking about himself and himself only. The God's forgiveness doesn't mean that this man is forgiven by people and it does not absolve him from trying to do every possible thing for the person he committed the crime against. I am completely on the side of Shin-ae in this situation, I don't want to forgive this guy, and I think it is he himself who has forgiven him, not God.

Job's friends The story about Job is one of my favourites. The story goes like this: Satan sees Job who is all-around good and prosperous guy. He comes to God and challenges him to test Job. God says "I have given you the Earth as your domain, do what you want to do. I am sure Job is a good guy". Job loses everything: his possessions and children. Finally, he becomes infected with some terrible skin disease. He sits and he grieves. His friends come to visit him and under the mask of kindness tell Job that "he is punished by God because he must have sinned in the past". When Job starts asking questions "Why is God doing this to me?", his friends cut him short by saying that asking these questions is evil. Then a young man comes along and proves Job's friends wrong.

I see the story of Job's friends repeating itself in the film. When Shin-ae starts asking "Why is this happening to me?", her church friends act terrified as if she is saying some horrible hypocrisy. They are lovely people and they keep her best interests at heart, but they don't hear her at all.

Summary "Secret Sunshine" has it's flaws. It is too long and could benefit from removal of some scenes. But I thought it was an excellent movie, filmed beautifully and innovatively. Some of the scene compositions were absolutely unique. Also the space seen by the corner of your eye was utilised in amazing ways. I am going to try find another film by the director, Chang-dong Lee, "Oasis". He has really impressed me.

Warning: May be if you are not interested in small town life, cultural and class differences or Protestantism the film could be less interesting to you than to me. Also I must warn that this film is very hard to watch, it left me exhausted.
